MEET THE OWNER
Greetings,
My name is Shilo Lemmon and I am the owner of The Mindful Body Company. I wear many hats here, a few including massage therapist, wellness coach, and stretch therapist.
For the last three years, I have owned my own massage business while studying to become a Doctor of Oriental Medicine through the East West College of Natural Medicine. Currently, I have decided to take a step back from schooling to focus on growing The Mindful Body Company and settle into my newest adventure- motherhood!
I am originally from Sioux City, Iowa but currently reside in New Port Richey, Florida. I started my passion for Traditional Chinese Medicine, Massage Therapy, Health & Wellness by seeking relief from participating in many youth programs and sports teams. After graduating from West High School, I attained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Kinesiology: Exercise Science with minors in Health, Coaching, Spanish, and Psychology at the University of South Dakota.
Since my time at USD, I have completed the advanced program at Bio-Chi Institute of Massage Therapy to obtain my certification of licensure in Massage Therapy. I have held various management positions within the Health and Wellness Field including Personal Trainer/Wellness Coach, Group Exercise Coordinator, and Wellness/Activity Director. In addition to those positions, I have enjoyed teaching Biological Concepts, Anatomy Systems I & II, and Pathology I at Bio-Chi Institute of Massage Therapy for four years.
With my past training I am blessed to be certified in multiple modalities within massage, and love to combine the Eastern practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine with the Western Medicine practices. A few of the massage techniques I specialize in with my practice are TCM Acupressure, Fire Cupping, Reflexology, Ear Candling, MTR – Musculo Tendon Reeducation, PNF Assisted Stretching, Esalen, Medical Qi Gong, Prenatal Massage, Deep Tissue/Trigger Point, Cranial Sacral, Swedish, and Sports Massage.
As a Wellness Coach I enjoy working with all ages, symptoms, and syndromes! In the past I have enjoyed working with special population groups including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons, and Diabetes I & II. In addition to special populations, I have worked with the active older adult population on strength training, flexibility, joint stability, and pain relief. Outside of active older adults, I was also a Velocity trainer for CNOS Center working with children and youth fitness programs ranging from kindergarten to high school ages. With this wide span of experience I feel confident in my ability to listen and respond to all individuals' unique needs and use my skills to assist others.
